Service

Nigeria's tax laws were consolidated in 2025 through the Nigeria Tax Act and the Nigeria Tax Administration Act, which took effect on 1 January 2026. The Federal Inland Revenue Service has become the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS). These changes affect rates, thresholds, filing procedures and penalties for most businesses.
We help companies and individuals comply with these laws and meet their other statutory obligations. Our work also covers tax audits and disputes with the authorities.
Most businesses face several filing deadlines each month: VAT and withholding tax to the NRS, PAYE to the State Internal Revenue Service, and pension and other statutory contributions to their agencies. Missed deadlines attract penalties and interest, and repeated defaults can lead to tax audits and the withholding of tax clearance certificates. Those certificates are needed for contracts, permits and banking.
Many companies also carry hidden exposures from earlier years, such as unremitted withholding tax or VAT on imported services. These usually come to light during a tax audit, when the cost of correction is highest.
We manage tax compliance as a continuous cycle. Each cycle begins with a review of your current position.

A partner who is a member of CITN reviews every return before it is filed. Because our tax team works with our audit team, the figures in your returns agree with your audited accounts, which removes a common trigger for tax queries.
We plan payments around your cash flow and identify reliefs and exemptions available under the new tax laws. When an assessment arrives, we respond within the statutory deadline and base each objection on the law and your records.
Do not ignore it. An objection must be filed within the period stated in the law and on the notice. Contact us as soon as the notice arrives so that we can review it and prepare a response.
